UN-MONITORED ALARMS DRIVING LOCALS CRAZY

Anyone living near the (ex) Weir Pre-School will know exactly what I'm saying here. These buildings have been leased (?) to AEIOU and another learning organisation.

Great work's been done to the grounds and buildings BUT they've installed audible burglar alarms. This is all well and good except nobody monitors them. They are obviously set too sensitive and are triggered at all times of the day and night by what can only be the breath of a mosquito or a gecko chasing it because there's certainly NO BURGLARS.

The signs on the place list a Free Call number that nobody answers; the council says it's not a noise complaint because it's a burglar alarm; the police don't want to know about it (because they don't respond when called); the EPA says it's not their jurisdiction; and the staff can't do anything about it because "it's all run from down south".

Finally my calls (during business hours) located someone who promised "We'll get the noise turned off." Lulled into the belief that I can finally sleep the night through without the piercing screech of these alarms I find myself rudely awaken again and again. Of course then, more calls and more promises of "It'll be taken care of".

Of course the guy I spoke to has never given me his number - I speak to him through a myriad of call transfers. I find myself screeching almost as loud as the alarms "IF YOU GIVE ME YOUR NUMBER I'LL CALL YOU AT 3:30AM THE NEXT TIME IT WAKES ME!!!" Quite obviously I couldn't get his number and nor has the problem been "taken care of".

Don't get me wrong, I know that burglar alarms are important. But aren't they important enough to warrant being monitored and not just be a cause of grief to the locals in this Residential Area???? Shouldn't someone respond to the alarms? Shouldn't they be less sensitive so they trigger when there's an actual burglar?

This has been ongoing since about April. How do I resolve this problem? Any suggestions?
